HOW IT WORKS

SURGISPON® is a geltain based sponge that adheres to the bleeding site and absorbs approximately 45 times of its own weight of blood. It has a porous structure which activates the thrombocytes at the moment blood comes in contact with the matrix of the sponge. This causes the thrombocytes to release a series of substances which promote their aggregation, enabling them to act as a catalyst for the formation of fibrin, which stops the bleeding. When implanted in tissue it is completely absorbed within <4 weeks.

KEY BENEFITS

  • Saves surgical time
  • Extremely cost effective
  • Reduces post operative time and improves speed of patient recovery
  • Gamma sterilized, ready to use & easy to cut
  • Secure and speedy haemostasis
  • Significantly reduces blood loss
  • No reported side effects
  • Does not interfere with tissue healing
  • Leaves no residue and encapsulation

THROMBIN BASED SEALANT

Gelatin-thrombin combinations are very helpful in achieving faster haemostasis. It is particularly useful in neurosurgical application near the spine, in liver surgery where there is raw liver surface bleeding, and in vascular surgery where needle holes in PTFE grafts continue to ooze.

SURGISPON® has a porous structure that enables high absorption of fluids and is effective in supporting the new graft in the outer ear canal after tympanoplasty while buttressing middle ear implants. It’s pH-neutral nature makes suitable for use with the antibiotics and other drugs.

Safe, No Complications
The postoperative period of 7 to 21 days can be passed without complications and no new bone formation. Easy removal of ENT gelatin sponges cubes.

User Friendly Application
Excellent processing abilities with very little pre-operative preparation. Simple application procedure.

Unsurpassed anti-adhesive and haemostatic
Due to their density, cubes stay longer in place and as such are suited to support and separate tissue, helping prevent adhesions and control bleeding.

P14e Surgispon Anal Tampon

SURGISPON® Anal Tampon is indicated for use in haemorrhoid operations and other surgical procedures in the anal, vaginal and rectal regions. The tampon easy expelled on first bowel movement, requiring no additional nursing intervention. Use of the gelatin sponge can potentially reduce patient in-hospital time by 4 days.

-Areas of Use:

Anorectal Surgery - to facilitate better post operative haemostasis.

-For Rapid Haemostasis Regarding:

Haemorrhoidectomies, anal fistula and fissures, Ccurettage and hysterectomies, surgery for rectal cancer, rectal prolapse, colorectal surgery, transrectal prostate needle biopsy.
